This year’s Umematsu and Yasu Watada Lectures on Peace, Justice and the Environment will be presented October 13-16, 2016 in Honolulu. The theme for this year’s 2016 Umematsu and Yasu Watada Lectures is on “Sustainability and Cultural Transformation” featuring Erik Assadourian.
In 2007, Hawaii became the first state to recognize Peace Day. Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21. The United Nations General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. Read more
