TIAH Announces Mini-Grant!

TIAH is pleased to provide a mini-grant for “The Families Can Survive” Camp for families with children with cancer for $500.00.

Camp Mokule’ia on Oahu’s North Shore, a place of rest, recreation, and renewal, hosts .a week-end camp for Families who have children with cancer for about 100 participants (20-25 families).

The only cost to each family is $25.

The week-end provides opportunities for FUN: swimming, paddle boarding, playing games;

EDUCATION: workshops for parents, information regarding eligibility for support services, and SUPPORT: a place to get away from the stress day-to-day concerns and care to rest and be renewed.

Counselors are available throughout the week-end.

The week-end builds a community of care for each other.

The families look forward to this annual event that has become a support system for each other in many ways.

Reverend Matsumoto Honored

On the occasion of joint memorial service for Late Bishop Richard Matsumoto & the 84th Anniversary of the Palolo Kwannon Temple, Speaker Emeritus of the House of Representatives, Calvin Say, presented a Certificate expressing gratitude for Rev. Eshin (Irene) Matsumoto’s contributions to the community.

Irene is 1st VP of TIAH. Representatives from community & faith groups were present including TIAH.

Keynote speaker was Dr. Willa Tanabe, Professor Emeritus of UH Manoa, teacher & Former Dean.
